Melissa Skolnick, MBA, is Middle Georgia State University’s student conduct coordinator. Skolnick is from New Jersey, and she found her way down south when she attended the University of Mississippi where she received her master’s degree. Skolnick attended Pennsylvania State University in which she majored in psychology and criminology. She graduated with both degrees in Fall 2014.
Skolnick started working at Middle Georgia State University in June 2018. “The reason why I Middle Georgia State University was because its currently going through some changes and it makes space for an opportunity to be more creative,” she said. Skolnick’s role as a student conduct coordinator is that she talks with students who may had violated MGA’s student conduct violations. She holds each student accountable when they violate policies. “Our mission as student conduct is to be educational and take a linguistic approach,” she said. Skolnick’s job is not all about about disciplining students, but she also wants to help students achieve their goals and talk with them if they are displaying reoccurring behavior issues. “We are concerned if something else may have gone on to cause this behavior.”
