MACON, GA., Jan. 30 – The Office of Student Life presented club rush on the Macon campus at Middle Georgia State University. The event took place Tuesday Jan. 29 from 11:00 to 1:00 in the Student Life Center lobby. MGA students had the opportunity to join student organizations, community organization, and religious organization. The goal of this event was to get students involve in different clubs and organizations.
One of the clubs that attended club rush was the Black Student Unification. Black Student Unification brings awareness and attention on different issues that are going on in the black community, and to appreciate and learn more about black heritage. Shanquel Askew is the president of the Black Student Unification and when asked what was the club about she said, “It brings awareness to things that are affecting the culture and it informs students the history about black culture. The Black Student Unification has an estimate of 20 members.
The MGA Equestrian team was another team that attended the club rush event. The equestrian team is a primarily new club that started two years ago. Hunter Holland who is the equestrian team captain stated, “The team as a whole fosters knowledge of the students that don’t know anything about horses and this helps build them as a well-rounded student because they learn more about the horses.” The club is primarily based in Cochran, GA because that is where their barn is. They participate in at least 7 out of 8 shows in the year and in their region, there are at least 13 teams they compete against. Out of the 13 teams they are 3rd in the region. There next upcoming show is this Saturday at Florida State University.
